CHEESE MAKING CLASSES


Cheesemaking 101





The cheese making classes are on ongoing fundraiser for the Canterbury Dairy Goat Breeders Association, with a portion of the proceeds to go to the club for its pursuits in educating the public about goat husbandry as well as promoting the improvement of dairy goats.

Learn the basics of at-home cheesemaking and take home a batch of your own feta cheese. This small hands-on session is limited to 12 people so that everyone will be able to make their own cheese. Some basic utensils are necessary.

Andrea Gauland has been milking goats and making goats' milk cheeses for twelve years.

Cheese Making 101 - an introduction to cheese making, $60.  Basic equipment required, but nothing out of the ordinary for the home kitchen.  Everyone makes a feta cheese to take home to age and enjoy.  The course runs approximately 3 hours.


Cheddar Making - hands-on farmhouse cheddar to take home, $100 - Cheese press required, can be purchased on the day for $95, made by local forester and woodworker, Barry Mathers. The course runs approximately 6 hours.
